TheNetwork for Consumer Protection organized a Consultative Meeting on “Role of Media in Promotion of
Iodized Salt for Iodine Deficiency Disorders (IDDS) Control” on Tuesday 29th September, 2009 at
Islamabad Hotel to form a National Alliance with Media Persons and Opinion Makers on IDDs. Health
Journalists of Dawn New, Dawn TV, SAMA TV, The News, The Nation, Daily Times, Daily Izkaar, Aaj Kal and
APP participated in the meeting.
A documentary on IDDs produced by UNICEF, MI, Mi and WFP was screened to the audience. Presentations were made
by Ms Mehnaz Paracha, Prof. Dr Rizwan Taj, Head of Psychiatry – PIMs, Dr Suleman Qazi, Nutrition Wing,
Dr Khawaja Masuood Ahmed – MI and Dr Sadia Assad – TheNetwork. The discussion session was facilitated
Mr Yaqoob Qureshi, Media Advisor – NW.
