Celebation of Joy! A moment of pride & Renewal of Pledges
A follow up meeting of National Alliance on Protection & Promotion of
BF/USI was organized at Islamabad Hotel by TheNetwork. The main objective of the meeting was to to
share an update on progress made and celebrate the launching of BF Rules and to reinforce our
commitment towards the implementation of BF Ordinance and IDDs control strategies in Pakistan.
The meeting was attended by UNICEF, WHO, Plan Pakistan, SUNGI Development Foundation, Apna Sehat
Islamabad Medical & Dental College, BEHBUD Association of Pakistan, Family Health Hospital , Batool Welfare Foundation and
many others.

held by TheNetwork
A follow up meeting of National Alliance of
Media on Iodine Deficiency Disorders (IDDs) and Breast Feeding (BF) at
Islamabad Hotel was organized by The Network. The main objective of the
meeting was to discuss the progress made during 2009, explore ways and
means with the media people for more and better coverage on the issues of
IDDs and BF, and give encouragement awards and certificates for the

Alliance of large
consumer
formalised
Recognising the role of large consumers in making
iodised salt available, accessible and affordable for the people of Pakistan,
the foundation of an Alliance of Large Consumers was laid here on Thursday at
a consultative meeting, which also saw representatives of large consumers
making verbal commitments to promote the use of iodized salt in food items in
a bid to control the rising incidence of Iodine Deficiency Disorders
(IDDs).

National Advocacy Conference on Tobacco Control
The policy makers, opinion formers, legislators and tobacco control
advocates gathered in Islamabad, reinforced their commitment for effective tobacco control in
Pakistan, resulting in formulation of a Grand National Alliance for Tobacco Control. The
decision was made in National Advocacy Conference on Tobacco Control organized by TheNetwork for
Consumer Protection in collaboration with Ministry of Health, Tobacco Control Cell at Islamabad
Hotel on October 28, 2009. The event was inaugurated by the DG Health, Dr. Rasheed Juma and
Concluded by Ms. Yasmeen Rehman, Member National Assembly and Standing Committee on Health and
