A CONSULTATIVE MEETING of National Alliance of Civil Society ON “PROMOTION OF IODIZED SALT FOR AND
IODINE DEFICIENCY DISORDERS (IDDS) CONTROL” on Wednesday 30th September, 2009 at Islamabad Hotel to
develop an action plan to address IDDs issue. Representatives of Save the Children US, UNICEF, WFP,
Micro Nutrient Initiative, FPAP, Apna Sehat, Bakhtawar Amin Trust, Rasti Pakistan, Behbud Association
of Pakistan, Nutrition wing and TheNetwork were present.
A documentary on IDDs produced by UNICEF, MI, Mi and WFP was screened to the audience. Presentations were made by
Dr Arif Azad- EC TheNetwork, Prof. Dr Farid Minhas, Head of Psychiatry – RGH, Dr Suleman Qazi, Nutrition Wing,
Dr Khawaja Masuood Ahmed – MI and Dr Sadia Assad – TheNetwork. The discussion session was facilitated by
Dr Arif Azad, executive Coordinator of TheNetwork and recommendations and commitments were recorded.
