Follow up Meeting Of National
Alliance of Media on Promotion of BF/USI & Appreciation Awards Ceremony held by TheNetwork

A follow up meeting of National Alliance of Media on Iodine Deficiency Disorders (IDDs) and Breast Feeding (BF) at Islamabad Hotel was organized by The Network.
The main objective of the meeting was to discuss the progress made during 2009, explore ways and means with the media people for more and better coverage on the issues of IDDs and BF, and give encouragement awards and certificates for the outstanding writings. the meeting was chaired by Mr Adnan Rehmat, Director, Intermedia and large number of Meida alliance partners gathered at the event. The allinace partners were highly appreciated for advocacting for early notification of BF Rules and were called for similar exercise with IDDs Control Act.
All the partners reenforced their commitment towards promotion of Breatfeeding and IDDs control in Pakistan through maximum coverage of in print and electronic media like breastfeeding and iodine deficiency disorders besides others.
Later, Appreciation awards and certificates were distributed among three best health reporters included Fauzia Azam (The Nation), Yawar Abbas (APP) and Umar Daraz (Dawn News TV) on contributing best news stories respectively on breastfeeding and iodine deficiency disorders
While addressing, Mr Adnan Rehmat emphesized that health journalists should contribute regular articles and features on challenges in health sector, policy areas and new developments .
